Welcome To

Art

Art is taught to a high standard throughout school.  This is evident in the displays seen around school as well as in the pieces that are often submitted from all classes for the Seasiders Art Exhibition.

Children are exposed to different media as well as a vast range of artists. Our Upper Key Stage 2 children are encouraged to choose their own media.

Assessed art skills are distributed evenly through school to ensure that children get to experience these skills at least twice before leaving Primary.

Below are some pictures of just some of the fantastic art work produced by our pupils. We will be uploading lots more throughout the year!

Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development (SMSC) in Art:

The integration of Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development (SMSC) within the primary Art curriculum is essential for fostering holistic educational experiences. Art education provides a unique platform for students to explore and express their individual identities, beliefs, and values, thereby enhancing their spiritual development. Through creative expression, children learn to reflect on their emotions and experiences, cultivating a deeper understanding of themselves and others.

Moral development is nurtured as students engage in discussions about the ethical implications of their artistic choices and the impact of art on society. This encourages critical thinking and the ability to evaluate differing perspectives. Social development is fostered through collaborative projects, where children learn the importance of teamwork, communication, and respect for diverse viewpoints.

Culturally, the Art curriculum exposes students to a variety of artistic traditions and practices from around the world, promoting appreciation for cultural diversity. This exposure not only enriches their understanding of global cultures but also instils a sense of belonging and community. Overall, the incorporation of SMSC within the primary Art curriculum equips students with essential skills for personal growth and social responsibility.

Big Draw 2025

In July, we organised a ‘Big Draw’ event held in school.
We hosted AGT artists from two other schools in the area along with a selection of AGT artists from St Chad’s from Years 4, 5 and 6.
The focus of the event was for the children to work collaboratively to produced an abstract piece of work inspired by Kandinsky, Klimt, Warhol, Lichtenstein and Kahlo. The children were encouraged to use a variety of mark making skills to create their piece and had a very wide range of resources to choose from.
The afternoon was very successful and well received by both pupils and staff!

Take a look below at some of the beautiful artwork we have produced in school, including our Seasiders 2025 winning entries!
