Welcome To

Diversity

At St. Chad’s School, we actively support Equality, Diversity, and Justice (EDJ) across our curriculum and community. We consult regularly with staff, pupils, parents, and community members to gather input and feedback, ensuring our approach was inclusive and responsive.

Our curriculum was enriched by developing and integrating EDJ content and activities across all subjects.

To foster ongoing dialogue and collaboration, we have established an EDJ forum comprising staff and parents, launching it in April 2025. This forum will meet regularly to discuss EDJ-related themes and provide opportunities for all stakeholders to contribute ideas and initiatives that promote equality, diversity, and justice throughout our school community.

One of the most successful EDJ focused events we offer is Diversity Day.

As part of Diversity Day at St Chad’s School, the children took part in a range of activities that celebrated difference and inclusion. In “What My Family Looks Like,” the children shared drawings and stories reflecting their unique family structures, helping everyone understand that families come in many forms. The class fashion show was a highlight, with children proudly showcasing their individual styles and cultural heritage, promoting self-expression and respect for diversity in appearance. In worship, classes shared greetings or non-verbal gestures from different languages and cultures, fostering a sense of belonging. Year 6 pupils explored gender constructs and assumptions, encouraging thoughtful discussion around identity and challenging stereotypes. All children enjoyed reading about children living with different aspects of Neuro-Diversity, with one child commenting, “That’s amazing! He sounds just like me”.
