Welcome to Year 5!
A very warm welcome to Year 5’s class page. I am Miss Dodd, the class teacher, and I am so excited for the year ahead and all the learning, challenges and adventures we will share together!
The Year 5 team will include our wonderful support staff Mr McKay and Miss Stanley who are there to make sure everyone feels happy, confident and ready to learn.
When I am out of class (Thursday and Friday afternoons) the class will be taught by Mrs Swales.
Our PE days will be Tuesday and Thursday. Please make sure that children come to school wearing correct PE kit on these days!
It is really important that everyone in Year 5 has the right equipment for school each day. Please make sure that the children bring their planners/diaries into school each day. It is essential that your child reads at least three times a week at home, in addition to reading at school too. Please sign your child’s planner each time they read.
It is also extremely important that you remember that school begins at 8.45am prompt. Your child needs to be here in time for the register each morning or they are missing valuable learning time in this crucial year. Guided Reading sessions will begin at 8.55am each day so anyone arriving after this time will receive a late mark.
Year 5 is an exciting year where children will continue to develop their independence, confidence and resilience while building on knowledge and skills they have developed throughout Key Stage 2. We have lots of exciting learning planned across the year, and we look forward to watching every child grow and achieve their potential.
