School Council
Pupils have lots of opportunity to take responsibility at St Chad’s school.
One way is to be part of School Council. Each year each of the classes from Year 2 to Year 6 vote for two pupils to represent them. They meet with the Headteacher or staff to discuss ways to improve the school.

- Reviewed our behaviour policy and helped introduce our new 3 Golden Rules and our Behaviour Blueprint.
- Represented school during Remembrance week and helped plant poppies in the church grounds.
- Represented school in welcoming Philip, the Bishop of Blackburn, to St Chad’s church during his pedal-along Harvest appeal. We also took part in a community worship in church led by the Bishop.
- Continued to help train Floki, our school therapy dog.
- Sold hot chocolate and marshmallows and hot vimto in the garden in the cold winter weather.
- Represented their class in asking for a net over the MUGA and a separate paper bin in the girls toilet.
- Took part in the Grand Opening of the new MUGA
- Will sell ice pops in the garden in the hot summer weather.
- Will visit a local care home, Primrose Bank to help residents plant flowers in the garden.

- Represented school during the Raising of the Flag in Market Square for the VE Day celebrations and met the Town Crier.
- Reviewed the Home Learning Policy ready for January 2024.
- Written a child friendly online safety policy.
- Written a child friendly anti bullying policy.
- Visited Primrose Bank Care Home to have lunch with the residents and help them plant in the garden.
- Introduced a Teacher of the week award and a Support Staff of the week award.
- Created new house names- Red Pandas, Yellow Lions, Blue Elephants and Green Snakes.
- Helped create a new school behaviour policy.
- Ensured there is more milk available at lunch time.
- Used children’s ideas from home and linked to their classroom topics which are introduced into the school menus.
- Changed the uniform policy- girls are now allowed to wear school style trousers or shorts.
